Tunisian Photographer and Visual Artist
Lives and works in Paris, France.

Also known as Slim, Slown is a Tunisian photographer and visual artist whose practice combines photography, visual fiction, and contemporary pop culture. Drawing inspiration from cinema, fashion, and contemporary imagery, he creates carefully constructed narratives where reality and staging merge, blurring the boundaries between documentary and fiction.

After studying in Canada, he returned to Tunisia, where he developed several major photographic projects, including Directors in Portraits and My Tunisianity, a solo exhibition presented at the Institut Français de Tunisie in 2015. These early works established his distinctive visual language while exploring questions of identity, representation, and collective memory.

Alongside his photographic practice, Slown directed the short films Time, Death and Me and A Sequel Without a Sequel, both selected for international film festivals in Tunis, Algiers, Nice, and Paris. His experience in filmmaking continues to shape his artistic approach, giving his photographs a strong cinematic atmosphere and a compelling narrative quality.

Based in Paris since 2016, Slown has continued to develop a body of work in which photography becomes a space for fiction, memory, and visual experimentation. His work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including at Galerie La LaLand and the Institut du Monde Arabe. Balancing irony, poetry, and contemporary visual culture, his images invite viewers to question the narratives and visual codes that shape our perception of the world.
