Hualing Xu is a Chinese visual artist whose practice brings together painting, drawing, and illustration in a poetic exploration of memory, imagination, and perception. Shaped by both Chinese and European artistic traditions, her work creates delicate visual worlds where reality and fiction coexist in quiet harmony.

She first studied fine arts in China, where she received rigorous training in drawing and oil painting, before continuing her education in France. She attended the École Européenne Supérieure d'Art de Bretagne (Brest campus) and later the École Nationale Supérieure d'Art de Bourges, where she earned the Diplôme National Supérieur d'Expression Plastique (DNSEP). This dual cultural and academic background informs a practice that balances technical precision with a deeply personal visual language.

Alongside her visual practice, Hualing Xu studied electroacoustic composition at the Conservatoire de Pantin and collaborated with Radio France on several sound-based projects. This multidisciplinary experience continues to influence her painting, bringing a heightened sensitivity to rhythm, silence, and atmosphere.

Today, painting lies at the heart of her artistic practice. Through luminous compositions imbued with softness and quiet intensity, Hualing Xu creates contemplative spaces where colour, light, and form become vehicles for emotion and imagination. Her work invites viewers into intimate landscapes where memory and perception gently unfold.
